Year 6 African drumming WOW
Thursday 14th September 2017
Year 6 had an amazing time today when they were visited by Peter and Sarah from the Umbanda Drumming group. Laden with a whole range of drums and other exciting percussion instruments, the pair set up the hall ready for a day of rhythmic fun! The children learnt lots of different beats, patterns and rhythms and were wonderfully enthusiastic throughout. Peter had also supported across different refugee camps too so he was an ideal candidate to speak to Year 6 about first-hand experiences of refugees and how music can be used to bring people together, regardless of skin colour, religion or ethnicity. And Peter and Sarah certainly showed they had the musical ability to bring people together!
Our pupils once again did themselves proud, especially at the end of the day when parents came in to watch the grand finale- each class having a slot to perform a series of rhythms, which they did brilliantly :)
