Year 5 WOW day - Science Workshop

In Year 5 we started our new topic about The BFG with a bang! We had a Mad Science Guy called Nitro Nick run a presentation for all of Year 5, introducing them to lots of information about chemical reactions, and then the children went off into four groups to participate in different investigations.

With Nick they were exposed to the wonders of dry ice! Learning about the fun and practical uses, as well as the dangers of such a material. They then had some fun with some vinegar and bicarbonate of soda outside on the playground, as well as investigating the properties of colours in class. All children worked brilliantly, asking interesting and enthusiastic questions to get the best from their experiences.

A fun and interesting day had by all.
