Luton Town flag-bearers
Saturday 9th September 2017
In May, a group of pupils took part in the carnival in partnership with Luton Town FC. Well this weekend, the football club invited a group of those pupils back to be flag-bearers at their game versus Swindon Town! Even before the game began, the fun began as it was 'Family Day' so the children got to meet some of the players to get shirts signed and also received some balloon models, masks and sweets too.
Once inside the stadium, the pupils headed down the players' tunnel, picked up their flags and had a practice on the pitch. Then, not long after, it was the real deal when the 22 players emerged amidst the 9000 enthusiastic fans and entered the pitch through the flag archway that the children had created! Once they were all through, the children returned back up the tunnel to find their seats for the match. Unfortunately, we couldn't bring the good luck that the club needed as they lost 3-0. The result didn't dampen the day though- there were a very group of pupils at the end of the day!
